What you will do
The Web Developer will carry out a wide-ranging set of duties, including:
● Design, develop and maintain web applications and functionality using HTML/CSS/JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Drupal and other CMS module design
● Troubleshoot and mitigate support issues on multiple environments
● Administer, monitor, and upgrade websites
● Benchmark site deployments, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance.
The developer will work closely with the Business Systems and Marketing teams to ensure solutions meet site standards and design principles.
Required skills
● Proven ability developing Drupal websites from initial installation through configuration and theming, including customizations of contributed modules
● Ability to write semantically sound HTML, CSS, and JavaScript using current standards for cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility
● Ability to write object-oriented PHP code
● Ability to extend various web applications in use by the organizations through code
● Comfortable with Git version control
● Experience with migrating sites from one CMS to another (e.g. WordPress to Drupal)
● Good understanding of Web optimization principles
● Strong project management skills to plan and manage multiple projects including meeting facilitation and stakeholder communication
● Experienced and comfortable working with virtual teams
● Experience working in a small multi developer team
● Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
● Strong client-facing and interviewing skills to gather and document requirements
● Strong documentation for knowledge retention and cross training
● Solid communication skills and strong customer service orientation
● Bachelor’s degree
Desired skills and qualifications
● Experience with OOCSS framework, design patterns, Responsive Web Design
● Demonstrated ability to develop sites that conform to WCAG 2.0 accessibility standards
● Experience with Drupal Module Development and multi-site installations
● Experience with WordPress, Plone, and other content management systems
● Experience with Amazon Web Servers (AWS)
● Experience with SugarCRM development would be a plus
Background with scholarly content (journals) and publishing is also beneficial.
